What time will you arrive in the morning?
Unless scheduled otherwise with you, expect your crew around 9AM, give or take 20 mins for traffic and weather.
What should I do with loose items?
These should be taken in your car, packed in a wardrobe box or taped together. We cannot uphold our quoted moving time while moving individual items.
What about my junk?
We’ve got your back! Please let us know ahead of time. We can definitely make a stop at the dump for you. You will be billed the same as moving time plus the municipal dump fee.
Can I ride in the truck with the crew?
Unfortunately, there usually isn’t room and our insurance will not cover you.
What happens if something breaks?
Please refer to the insurance clauses in the terms and conditions portion of your invoice.
Do you hire students?
All our workers are full-time. We usually don’t hire students unless we see a very good fit with our company culture. That decision is made by the boss.
Can I leave my dressers full of clothes?
No, please empty them into boxes.
What if I run out of boxes while packing?
Please buy more. We cannot move loose items.
What’s shrink wrap / stretch-wrap?
Stretch wrap is a type of saran wrap. Kind of like the plastic you put over your salad bowl, but thicker and stronger.
Do you have to shrink wrap?
Shrink wrapping (stretch-wrap) is company policy unless the item is going in the garbage. Not only does it protect the piece from the elements and compress things like couches, but it also makes it easy to identify when a piece was scratched prior to Monaco Moving it. Sometimes in moving, you find scratches you never knew were there that may have been made by the previous movers. By seeing that the stretch wrap is intact, you know that the damage was done prior to us moving it.
The stretch-wrap also helps keep doors and drawers in, making sure the centre of gravity doesn’t shift, causing the movers to drop it.
Can you Pad wrap / put blankets on before you move?
Yes, we will certainly pad-wrap your furniture before moving it. It’s company policy that furniture be pad-wrapped to not only protect your furniture but also your walls.
It’s by the hour, so if it’s less time, then I pay less, right?
That’s exactly right. It could be more and it could be less. Everyone prepares differently for a move. If it’s less you pay less. Do note that we have a 3hr minimum +1hr travel time.
What if there was more stuff during the quote than there is on moving day?
You only pay for the hours used. Your bill will be less, assuming you’ve packed properly.
Can you ask the men to take off their shoes or put booties on?
Unfortunately, due to insurance, we can’t ask our men to jeopardize their bodies like that. I do understand where you’re coming from. What we can do it inspect all their shoes upon entry and even wash them in the sink and dry them with a towel. Does that make sense?
Can you disassemble the crib?
Yes, we can certainly disassemble it for you. Unfortunately, we aren’t allowed to put it back together. It would break our hearts if we improperly reassembled your baby’s crib and something were to happen.
Can you remove the hand-rail?
We certainly can and would be happy to. Unfortunately, however, we aren’t able to put it back up, for liability reasons. We would hate for something to happen due to our improper installation.
Can you unhook the appliances?
Unfortunately, we aren’t insured for that type of work. I know this may seem extreme, but we can’t risk the possibility of flooding or burning down your home.
Do you deliver boxes?
When we do the packing, yes we bring the boxes. If you’re doing the packing, we can recommend the best place. In Ottawa, Canada, your options are Dymon, Home Depot, Lowes, movingboxes.ca and Cartier supply. In the Tampa bay area, your options are Home Depot, Lowes and more (please inquire for more options).
Do you have storage?
We’re affiliated with several storage facilities. Please speak with your moving concierge for more advice and potential discounts.
Can we help load the truck?
You are more than welcome to help us. For insurance purposes we can’t allow you inside the truck itself, but you can put boxes on the tailgate. It’s important to note, however, that the crew leader gives instructions on what he needs in the truck next, and by bringing items that he may not yet need, you will slow down the crew as they move items out of the way. Beware that by helping us, we have no clear way of identifying the culprit, should something be damaged. So as long as you are ok with that, we welcome the help.
What happens if I don’t get my keys on time?
Unfortunately, the men are still on the clock. If they haven’t yet eaten, they will most likely offer to take a long lunch to save you some money. But this cannot be forced upon them.
Do you supply men if we provide our own truck?
Yes, certainly. If we aren’t driving the truck, however, we cannot be held liable for its contents. But yes, we can provide the labour (labor) for the job and we will do our best to load the truck with the blankets, tools and straps you provide.
Do you load pods / pups / Cubeits?
Yes, certainly! We can provide the labour (labor) force for that. Please remember to rent plenty of blankets and straps. We’ll have our own tools. It’s always best to rent more blankets and straps than you need. The last thing you need on moving day is for us to ask you for more blankets or straps during an already hectic day.
Do you take plants?
We recommend putting plants in your car. Should your move be a big one, plants could cause the move to be 2 trips, costing you hundreds more.
What do we do with our mirrors and artwork?
For us to take them in the truck, we ask you to put these items in mirror/picture boxes. Otherwise we cannot insure them. Alternatively, you can put them in your car, separated by blankets. Most storage facilities sell mirror/picture boxes. Call us if you’re having a hard time finding them!
Will you take lamps?
Yes. We ask that small lamps 2ft and under be packed in boxes with plenty of paper and the lampshades in a separate box. For bigger lamps, simply place the lamp shades in a box with packing paper and we will pad-wrap the lamp before placing it in the truck.
Do you take barbecues?
Yes. Unfortunately, we are not legally allowed to transport propane, but we’re happy to place that in your car for you. Also, if you wouldn’t mind, please insure that the grease panned has been emptied and cleaned. The same thing goes for any hair products of cleaning supplies labeled combustible.
Do you take lawn mowers, snow blowers, weed eaters?
As long as they’re bled dry so that there isn’t any gas inside, yes, we can move those for you.
Will you move my ATV?
Unfortunately no. We are not insured to handle motor vehicles.
Are the men in uniform?
Yes, they all come wearing Monaco Shirt. Depending on the weather, they do have the flexibility to either wear Monaco Moving sweaters or their own. We want them to be comfortable. If they’re not warm enough in our hoodies, they need to be able to wear whatever will allow them to work comfortably.
How does residential labeling work when packing?
-The name of the room is written at the top of the box and underlined
-The 3 main item categories are written down
-The packers initials are written on the box
-Special instructions such as “fragile” or “top” are labeled on box.
How does Commercial labeling work when packing filing cabinets?
-Each filing cabinet is tagged
-Each box is labeled with the Cabinet/Drawer/Part
-Filing cabinets are packed top to bottom, front to back. This means that the items on the top drawer, closest to the handle are loaded first and the packer will work his way to the back of the drawer before moving to the next drawer.
Do you move pianos?
As much as movers say they can move pianos, it takes much more than being able to move the piano, to transport it. There are certain parts that should be dismantled. It’s for this reason that we recommend professional piano movers. We can refer you to the right people. We’ll do the rest of the home.
Will you cover our mattresses?
If you buy a mattress cover and place it on top of your mattress on moving day, we will know to put it on for you.
Do you sell mattress bags / Where can I buy mattress bags?
No we don’t sell mattress bags. Lowes and Home Depot both sell them. The main guideline when buying one is buy thick. Buying a thin mattress bag will inevitably end in the bag ripping and then men possibly tripping over it, not only resulting in the mattress getting dirty but also in the men getting hurt.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. Your possessions are insured for up to $100,000, if you believe you have more than that, simply let us know and we’ll bump it up.
How does the insurance work?
Please refer to the terms and conditions portion of your invoice.
For more answers, please refer to the package left with you during the initial consultation as well as the terms and conditions, found in the invoice.
